Vijay Eswaran is a Malaysian born businessman, entrepreneur and author. He graduated from the London School of Economics in 1984 with a degree in Socio-Economics. The binary system marketing caught his attention and it drove him to seek professional certification and qualification from CIMA (Chartered Institute Management) in the United Kingdom and earning a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Illinois University.
While in the United States he was working in the MLM (multilevel marketing) industry. He was working for Synaptics in the United States. He eventually returned to Singapore and the Cosway Group tapped him to start a business for them. It was at this point Eswaran began looking at MLM more seriously.
Eswaran returned to Asia in 1998 and was the co-founder of the QI Group, an MLM company that started small and through Eswaran’s leadership, grew into an e-commerce business group with a focus on training, corporate investment, wellness, luxury products, telecommunications, media and travel. The company maintains regional offices in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as a number of subsidiary companies throughout the world.
Eswaran is also a philanthropist. He established the RHYTHM Foundation which is the corporate social responsibility entity for the QI Group. He also established the Vijayaratnam Foundation, named after his father, is currently chaired by his wife. The Foundation initiates community based programs, such as mentorships. Eswaran also contributes regularly to a variety of charitable causes, as well as individuals. It is important to Eswaran to give back some of the goodness he has received in life.
He uses his good fortune to help strengthen his community and neighborhoods and the people who live there. Strong communities and neighborhoods benefit everyone and help to empower and influence others to do better.
Eswaran is a much sought after speaker and has spoken about business and management at a variety of forums and seminars. His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and start-up business people is to always maintain focus and stay the course. It is easy to be sidetracked, but maintaining focus will bring greater success.
