UK Company Flagship Europe Bought By OSI Food Group

Just this last December, a UK-based manufacturing and distribution group, Flagship Europe became a subsidiary of US-based OSI Group. OSI has been purchasing many food distribution companies throughout Europe and Asia and this is just the latest they’ve made over the last few years.

As with previous purchases, Flagship Europe will retain its staff and continue to operate like before, but with a wider reach and even more resources from its new parent company. CEO Russell Maddock is pleased with how the transaction has turned out and is happy to be working along with OSI’s leaders. Flagship themselves had just bought Atlantic Foods just three years ago.

OSI Group is based in Geneva, IL and have become a billion-dollar enterprise over the years. OSI Group mostly specializes in preparing and prepackaging meats ranging from your basic breakfast meats such as sausages, bacon and basic pre-cooked entrees. They also supply various lunch and sandwich meats both to supermarkets and wholesale distributors, as well as various fast food and privately-owned restaurants across the world. Clients can purchase products from OSI Group either raw and untouched by their machines, or OSI Group can customize packages all ready for client customers to order.

OSI Group operates some of the most sophisticated equipment for preparing the meets and for treating them to perfection. They take great care to make sure they are clean and free of any contaminants or bacteria. OSI Group takes employee and consumer safety very seriously and just recently they won the Globe of Honour award from the British Safety Council for manufacturing safety practices.

OSI Group has been an attractive place to work because it doesn’t just simply follow the norms of most corporations in its class. It’s co-owned and run by David McDonald, who is also the company President and Chief Operating Officer, and Sheldon Lavin who is the current company Chief Executive Officer. According to the executives, their philosophy has been to treat everyone working for the company and its subsidiaries as family and not just simply to sit in a large building office, but to be involved and see how production in the factories and warehouses is doing. And all of OSI Group’s representatives across the globe are local people who know what various customers are looking for in food.
